DURIAN EXPO KUALA LUMPUR 2019 TO
SHOWCASE THE KING OF FRUITS
Wide range of events plus activities to engage visitors
and trade participants from 26-28 July 2019
KUALA LUMPUR: Love it or otherwise, the durian is here to stay and in acknowledgment of the impact and importance of the king of fruits especially of late, the inaugural Durian Expo Kuala Lumpur 2019 is taking place from 26 to 28 July 2019.
The expo which is supported by Tourism Malaysia and Department of Agriculture will see the largest gathering of professionals and aficionados of durian from Malaysia and abroad at Bukit Kiara Equestrian and Country Resort here for three days.
Thousands of visitors are expected to throng the various trade/business exhibition booths featuring all things related to durian. Visitors will have the opportunity to sample mouth-watering Malaysian durians of different varieties at the expo’s “King of Fruits” durian buffet or just purchase and eat durians on ala carte basis at the expo site.
The famed durian species of Musang King (Mao Shan Wang) from Pahang and Black Thorn (Orchee) from Penang will feature throughout the expo.
Durian aficionados will discover information on durian products plus farms visits and resorts while trade and business participants will have opportunity to network with other industry players.
The expo also features seminars, symposium and networking opportunities among the major players in the sector from all over the world.
Visitors can look forward to other key events including:
1.Cooking demo and book signing by Master Chef UK alumni Zaleha Kadir Olpin (on Friday, 26th July 2019 4pm only)
2.Information booth by Project Pteropus which conducts ongoing research on (flying fox) fruit bats’s role in the pollination of durian flowers
3.Durian and plantation consultant Lim Chin Khee who will speak on “The Business of Durian and Starting Your Durian Plantation”.
4.Durian writer-blogger Lindsay Gasik will focus on “A Virtual Durian Tour in Penang” and “A Virtual Durian Tour in Pahang”
5.Mohd Ali Hanafiah bin Mazlan from Department of Agriculture shares on “Durian Grafting Method & Management”.
6 Chong Lee Cho, co-author of “Durian Kingdom, a Guide to Penang’s King of Fruit”, Malaysian food and beverage author as well as editor of “City Eye” magazine will conduct her seminars in Mandarin.
